Outstanding! We spent 15 great nights here in July 08. Couldn't
ask for a better place and the proximity to good beaches is excellent. Our
22 month old grandson was fascinated with the geckos (all outside).
And....can't beat the Lanai (and I spent a lot of time on my b.. there).

Stacy and Jason, our daughter-in-law and son brought us here as
a belated 40th wedding anniversary vacation. Best of all it was a family
vacation, our first trip to Hawaii. What a wonderful time we had. The week
went by way too quickly. We enjoyed the beach; our 2 year old
granddaughter Sarah loved the sand. And our grandson Josh pretended he was
Indiana Jones looking for the treasure in the bushes. He and I (Gammy)
always make sugar cookies when we visit them in Chandler, Arizona and we
did that while we were here. We got to babysit for Sarah and Josh while
mom and dad went out for dinner. Gammy and Papa went to the Sheraton luau.
Weather was beautiful. Drove over to Princeville and the Grand Canyon of
the island.

Karen and grandson Chase spent a pleasant week in your home. It was the
first visit to Kauai and we loved it. Your house was perfect for us. We
(some of us) snorkeled every day at either Poipu or Lydgate. Outings
included a trip to the north coast to road's end with a stop at the
National Wildlife Refuge, a visit to the Kauai Coffee Plantation, a hike
to the top of Nous-Nous and of course the lookout to see the magnificent
Waimea Canyon. Dinner at the Beach House was a highlight. The luau at the
Grand Hyatt was enjoyed by all--especially the show. And as I write this,
the three younger ones are taking a catamaran trip from Port Allen for
some snorkeling and a view of the Napali Coast.
We hope that this is not our last visit to this scenic part of the world.

Here we are again -- it is a wonderful habit we've acquired, thanks to you. Our lives flow by fast enough -- but our month in these islands seem to make all the rest more tranquil. This year we enjoyed ten days here through the eyes of two of our grandchildren, Addison (8 yrs) & Delaney (6 yrs). They explored the ocean waters from beaches from, Sand Pond, to Hanalei and in between. The boogie boards even got some play. Our neighbors on Bainbridge also shared time here with us to full the house with fun and laughter. We noticed the new paint job and how clean all looks. Great job! Aloha Wisda Ohana! Three families from Michigan lived in your home this week. Your home is stunning! Perfect location. We snorkeled every morning at 8:00am and had the reef to ourselves. We hiked, swam, boogie boarded and ate. We loved your kitchen--my husband wants the layout of your house--only in Michigan--I'm sure that without the warm trade winds and sunshine it would lose the ambiance of yours. We wandered down to the beach for sunsets when our excursions allowed. The whales & turtles put on some spectacular shows. We are grateful for the use of your home. Dear Jim, I've been wanting to email you ever since we returned from our vacation to let you know how much we loved staying at your beautiful Kauai home. It comfortably fit our family of five and everyone had their own space when they needed it. We loved the lanai that wrapped around the house and often sat outside reading in the chairs. It became part of our morning and evening ritual. We even enjoyed the very large frogs that would join us at night. Everyone in our family was deeply engrossed in the new Harry Potter book (we had two copies with us) and when the kids finished it, they re-read some of the previous books in the series that you had in the house. We loved being able to barbeque and the kitchen was equipped with everything. One of my favorite things in the house was the slatted windows and fans and sleeping with all the windows open at night. I loved waking up to the birds and tropical sounds every morning. The lawn and trees and hibiscus shrubs were gorgeous! The location was ideal and we spent several wonderful days at Brennecke beach and Poipu beach. The kids loved the boogey boarding and I loved the snorkeling. We fortunately brought snorkeling gear with us so we could take it on our excursions around the island. My only regret was that we did not stay longer. I mentioned to you that we split our time in Hawaii with one week on Kauai and about 6 days on Maui. While we stayed at a great resort in Maui (it was very difficult to find a condo or house to rent) I really missed your house and the comfort it provided. We went from your spacious home to sharing two rooms and two bathrooms. I believe you warned me that one week was not going to be enough. How right you were! The island of Kauai was beautiful and we enjoyed exploring it in the short time we were there. We went to the north shore to Ke'e beach and Haena Beach where we did some great snorkeling with turtles! We took the Blue Island Charter to the Na Pali Coast and even went to Waimea Canyon. But our trip would not have been the same if we had not had such a lovely place to stay. It was everything you said it would be and more. We treasured every minute we were there. It was certainly worth the long trip to get here when we arrived at your beautiful home. We loved the comfortable rooms and waking each morning to the sound of the birds and the breeze through the windows. We enjoyed the well stocked kitchen and had barbeques every night, followed by games of Othello and Dominoes. The wraparound porch was the perfect spot to read (we were all immersed in the last Harry Potter book!) and relax joined by the frog croaking late at night. The snorkeling was great and the kids enjoyed the big waves at Brennecke's Beach. We hiked the trail at the Napali Coast, went to Waimea Canyon, took a snorkeling cruise on the Blue Dolphin and went to the North Shore to Ke'e Beach and Ha'ena Beach where we went snorkeling with the turtles. Back from our Kauai wedding yesterday. We had a great time! Your house couldn't have been more perfect for the three of us couples that rented it. Everyone had their own bedroom/bath and plenty of space. The furnishings were perfect--someone in our group commented that the house had a welcoming and personal tough--so much better than an impersonal hotel no matter how grand. Air conditioning was no problem even though it was hot--which was my biggest worry being from Texas and Arizona where cool air is prized greatly. The sea breezes came up every afternoon and evening and kept the house cool. I loved having the windows open all the time. Sometimes it was a hard choice to leave as we enjoyed staying at home and cooking on the grill and hanging out almost as much as going out and touring the island. But we managed to do it all! Thank you for sharing your home with us--you never really know what you are going to get when you rent something sight unseen. I would certainly recommend it to anyone who is interested. Again we had an amazing time. One week with just us and golf and then our son and fiancée and friend for a week then our daughter and her husband and daughter and friends from Oahu for Jack's 80th birthday. Celebrated three birthdays in all and 30 sunsets each more beautiful. Ayden, our 2-1/2 year old granddaughter fed the doves and loved the "Baby Beach" it is a perfect place to meet the ocean and the waves. It was a perfect family vacation rental for six people. There was something for everyone within walking distance…snorkeling, body boarding, swimming. I would definitely stay here again. It was extremely special for all of us. We made great use of the kitchen. The only things that would have made it more wonderful would be air-conditioning or at least several portable fans (owner’s note: there are ceiling fans everywhere in the house and this was the hottest time of the year with a few days of no tradewinds). The vegetable stand was great, especially the corn and apple bananas (owner’s note: an apple banana is a banana that tastes like an apple). A wonderful return to paradise! This is our second stay at this beautiful island retreat. March had record rainfall but we still managed to get the kids to the beach 11 out of 12 days. Every morning started the same way…10 minutes after being up the kids grabbed their swimsuits and exclaimed, “Go to Oshy Wa-Wa!” They made good use of the great selection of beach toys. Wonderful time even though Mother Nature certainly tried her best to put a damper on things. (Owner’s note: March rainfall in Poipu was a record 33 inches, almost ten times the normal rainfall). We are new to Kauai and came her for a wedding 12/3/05 at Shipwrecks Beach. Being from Alaska the weather here isn't exactly normal for us even in the summer! 60 to 70 degrees is warm so this is much welcomed for a vacation. We now have to go home to our zero degree weather. We had a wonderful family vacation. Your home and its location made all the difference. No Strapping three kids in car seats to go to the beach!! How liberating! This is our third time visiting Kauai and our second time in your home. Thanksgiving in Kauai is more relaxing! We spent most of our trip relaxing at the beach, snorkeling & boogie boarding.
