While you’re here, visit the Hanalei Pier for a photo, fishing, or use it to jump off into the bay itself!
Kīlauea Point Lighthouse
Head to Kauai’s northernmost tip to see this iconic lighthouse upon a cliff. Also known as the Daniel K. Inouye Lighthouse, this structure was built in 1913 and served as a beacon for passing ships until the light was turned off in the 1970s. Despite this, it is still one of the island’s most visited attractions. The lighthouse sits within the Kīlauea Point National Wildlife Refuge and houses many seabirds, including great frigatebirds, shearwaters, and the Laysan albatross. Be sure to plan your visit accordingly: the Lighthouse is open Wednesday through Saturday from 10 AM to 6 PM and requires a reservation.

Upon reaching the top, you’ll be greeted by rugged cliffs and the Kalalau Valley, a U-shaped area adorned with taro fields and intersecting streams. This is easily one of the most stunning locations on the island, ideal for enjoying at any time of day.
